Family Room at Parkroyal Hotel, Penang

Assalamualaikum,

When I made a room reservation at Parkroyal Penang back in September this year, the reservation officer made a recommendation for us to stay in their Family Room. Family Room comes with a king size bed and two single beds. Suitable for us family of four. It was not our first stay there. We made our way up to Batu Feringhi to stay at Parkroyal countless time. It has become somewhat the default hotel that we will pick if we decided to go for a short holiday.

When the reservation officer suggested the Family Room, I thought to myself that it was a brilliant area. No more sharing bed with the boys. No chance of waking up late at night with their feets dead smack on my face. So today, I want to share some snapshots while staying there. I hope that from today's sharing, potential families that might be interested to stay there, will be able to get some hindsight of what to be expected from the Family Room.

Before I start sharing some juicy bits on the Family Room, I'll start with a few snapshots of Parkroyal Hotel's lobby. It was an open concept with ridiculously high ceiling. It was pleasantly airy, aided with the refreshing sea breeze. The decor and lighting were splendid and even more so during night time.

Javana Lounge housed a bar, where you can grab your complimentary drinks from. Plenty of comfortable sofas to enjoy your drink. At night, you can hang out over there, listening to the performance by the residence live band.

That was one of the pathway leading to the famous Tamarind Brasserie. I wrote about the Tamarind Brasserie's buffet not long ago. You can read it from the link below. You should give it a try, especially their seafood buffet on Saturday night.

Now, lets head to the room.....

Here was the view from the entrance hall. I personally like the laminate flooring. I just dislike any cold, soulless ceramic tiles.

From the above picture, you can see the king size bed on the right and the two single beds towards the back.

And here was the view from the other end of the room. My boys were having a blast, jumping from one bed to the other.

I was thinking to myself that the single bed was slightly bigger than normal. Perhaps, it was a super single instead? I'm not sure to be honest, but it was more than adequate for my two young boys.

Extra pillows were provided. A safe was also made available for storing your valuable belongings. The instruction to operate the safe was simple and easy to understand.

Two pairs of bathrobes were hung inside the wardrobe. Use it as you please.

The bathroom/toilet were decent in size. Not as big as the one at Tanjung Rhu Resort. You can click the link below to read about our trip to the wonderful Tanjung Rhu Resort.

I personally like the wood panelling. It help to somewhat break the monotonous shape and colour of the wall tiles.

There was a decent sized bathtub as well.

Plenty of toiletries. The hotel will replenish them if those toiletries are running low.

Control board beside the bed. Mainly used to control the lighting and setting up the alarm clock.

Wall decorations. Notice the big flat screen tv?

I believe many of us know that Batu Feringhi is a heaven for pirated movies. Small wonder that the hotel provided a DVD player in the room. Go figure....

And that was the view from the balcony. Yes, you will not be able to see waves pounding the beach, but you will still be able to see the ocean at the horizon.....

Who am I kidding? In all honesty, I prefer a room with a view of the white sandy beach rather than having frangipanis and coconut trees as the thing to look at from the balcony. Well, that just me...perhaps higher units will have better view of the ocean.

Fruit basket! What's not to like about that. Love them grapes! And those were all free!!

Mind you, only the fruits were free. The same cannot be said for the stuff inside that basket shown in the above pictures. Expensive....

The thing I like about the food served in this hotel was the Halal status. Boleh dimakan tanpa was-was!

So that was it on the Family Room. In summary, my family and I had a pleasant stay there. The room was comfortable and large enough for all four of us. Plenty of space for us to walk (jump) around. You will not hear any complain from us. Well, maybe one complain which was the view from the balcony. We can hardly see the ocean....

Before I sign off this post, I want to take the opportunity to share pictures of the hotel's ground. It was and still is a very nice, well maintained hotel. No pics on the pool though. I thought I had it in my camera, but apparently it was not.

Thank you for stopping by this blog....
Adios!
