Baseus D02 Pro Encok Wireless Headphone Unboxing and Review

Baseus D02 Pro Encok Wireless Headphone was the first Baseus product that I bought during a binge shopping madness on Black Friday. The second one was the Baseus W04 which I reviewed a couple of days ago. The link to that review is shown below.

With bated breath, I wish that the D02 will not be a crap, mediocre or down right lousy product. I desperately need to move away from my current wired earphone. I want something which will give overall better experience, better captivating sound and no wire. I went looking at many options. But, I do set myself a spending limit. I do not intend to spend anything beyond RM100 for a headphone. I felt that spending above RM100 for earphone/earbuds/headphone was a waste of money. With that price ceiling that I set for myself, sadly there were not a lot of really good option out there. I was very close to a decision to buy Cliptec BBH506 back then. It was cheap with a decent specs. But when I came across the D02 on Baseus Official Store, I was so impressed with the paper specs that I decided to take a calculated risk and went ahead to order one. I ended up paying RM77.99 nett. I had a feeling that it will be money well spent. Let's see...

The Unboxing

The packaging was simple. It had the family feel to the W04, with the white outer packaging was prominent. Closely resembling the W04, product specs and features highlight are placed on the sides of the packaging. 

Below are a few pictures after unboxing. The customary Instruction Manual and Warranty Card were included. You'll be getting a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging. You'll also be getting an AUX cable, which is a good thing if you want a wired connection to any of your device. But the AUX cable is a bit short, which eventually limit it's potential.

You'll have physical buttons for controls. The tactile feel for all the buttons was ok. Functional.

The overall build quality were surprisingly good. Nothing too flimsy, felt robust. It did not looks or feels cheap at all.

There are two colour option for the D02, one is black and the other is white.

The ear paddings are soft. Very comfortable. I can wear it for a long period of time without experiencing any pain.

Overall, I like the look and feel of the D02. Clean lines, functional buttons, soft paddings and it looks stylishly simple.

 

The setting up

Just like the W04, setting up is easy. Make sure you charge it to the brim before pairing. When charging is done, simple push the button to the ON position. The D02 will be discoverable from your device. Pair them using Bluetooth and you are done. Simple.

The performance - Listening to music

The first word that came to my mind when I first use the D02 was a resounding WOW! It was so unbelievably good. Plenty of bass, which was nicely balanced with treble. Voice clarity were great as well.

It was an easy decision to give the D02 a 5 out of 5 rating (1 is poor and 5 is extremely good). It was so good, I was grinning from ear to ear. RM77.99 and it turned out to be this good? What else can I say? Highly recommended.

The performance - Voice call

When I'm on a voice call, the person on the other end of the line was saying that there was an echo. Not by much though. I also having issue to hear the voice from the other end. It was not loud, so I was having issue to hear. It was not a very pleasant experience using the D02 on a voice call, so I will give it a rating of just 2 out of 5.

The Performance - Latency

Another 5 out of 5 rating. I did not observe any latency issue at all. Perfect. It made watching movies on Netflix a pleasant experience. I'm guessing that having Bluetooth V5.0 helps with the overall experience. What a pleasant surprise, no delay whatsoever. Awesome.

What caught my eyes when I first read the D02 specification was the long battery life. 25 hours. It can go up to 40 hours if used at 70% volume. Going without the need to charge for days was a major plus point for me.

The conclusion

Buy it! With the year end sale coming thick and fast, D02 price can go down even further. Grab this opportunity and buy one for yourself. My wife had just placed an order for herself. She managed to get it at a cheaper price!

I will update this post in the future to provide insight on durability, battery performance and share out any issue(s) with the D02.
