The Carnivall Water Theme Park in Sungai Petani, Kedah

Assalamualaikum,
Since it is the school holiday, I hope that this post will in a way offer some assistance to parents who are planning a trip for their beloved family. Have fun!!

For people who live in the northern region of Malaysia, we have 3 options when it comes to select which water theme park that we want to go to. There are two water theme parks in Perak, the first is Bukit Merah Laketown Resort and the other is Sunway Bukit Tambun.
The Carnivall, in Sungai Petani, Kedah is the family favorite when it comes to water theme park. It is near to where we live...well, I consider 45 minutes of highway driving is 'near'. The Carnivall is accessible from both Sungai Petani's highway exits. My preference is to take the Sungai Petani Utara exit. Less traffic lights.
The Carnivall is located beside the Cinta Sayang Resort. Both are actually run and manage by the same company.
The entrance fee is in the Carnivall official home page.
Do take note that weekend holiday for Kedah falls on a Friday and a Saturday. So, if you are from neighbouring state such as Perlis, Penang or Perak, going there on a Sunday (which is weekend on those states) will entitle you with the cheaper weekdays rate. If you are going there in drove, you can save a whole lot of money. My statement here is not valid anymore. I went to The Carnivall recently, and found out that they have a new policy. For them, weekend now falls on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So, for those from Perlis, Penang and Perak, going there on a Sunday will NOT entitle you with the cheaper weekday rate. Darn it!

That is the main entrance to the Carnivall. The signage is big and clear, there is no way that you can miss it.
Never once we get into problem finding parking place during our many trips to the resort. There are plenty parking bays. Less thing for you to worry about. Ohhh!! Parking is FREE! You know us Malaysian...we love anything free!

Another view of the main entrance. The ticketing counter is to the left of the picture.

A brief history lesson..the theme park is now 4++ years old. Officially opened by the once Menteri Besar of Kedah, Mahadzir Khalid.

Looks big huh? It is not as big as Sunway Lagoon, but I personally think that it is at the right size. Will not get tired from getting from one ride to the other. Good for someone that is not so young anymore...like me.
So....where to go first ?
A. Water Coaster and Wild River

Grab your "pelampung" (float) and climb up. Not for the faint hearted though.

The blue one is the Water Coaster while the green one is the Wild River. Only Water Coaster require a float.

B. Carnivall Curve

Love this ride. Love the sudden direction changes. Prepare to climb the steps. It can be tiring after a few climbs. There are two chutes, an enclosetype and an open type. It can be hot inside the close chute, especially during the afternoon. So you might want to go on the open chute instead. Be careful because sometime people tend to hang out at the front of the chute. I do not know why. Just be careful, you can hit someone while exiting the chute.

C. River of Adventure and Wave Cove

That is the Wave Cove. They have a huge pump that can generate waves. It's not turned on all the time, but when they do, make sure you are there to ride the waves.

Grab a float and let the natural current guides you along the river. Nice way to relax.

D. Jungle Playground

The best spot for children! We usually spent hours there.

Sufficient amount of shaded area. But, you might have to share if the resort is overly crowded.

There is a shop selling snacks a few steps away from the area. And yes, they have ice cream there. One way to put a big grin on your children faces.

E. Kiddies Cove

Another spot tailored for the children.
Small slides and knee deep water. Safe place for your children.
There is a food stall nearby. That's a guide on how much you need to pay for food inside the theme park and what sort of variety on offer.

F. Bubble Spa
Fancy some jacuzzi time?
G. Family Bungee
Want to do those circus tricks? Strap yourself to the harness, hop onto the trampoline and JUMP!
H. Adventure climb
Wanna do some monkey business? Climb that wall then.
Those are the main activities that you can do while at the theme park. Below are some facilities that are provided for visitors' conveniences.

The first aid treatment room is located beside the Carnivall Curve. If you sustain any injury while you are in the theme park vicinity, you can go there for a quick treatment. For serious injuries, you will need to seek treatment from the hospital.
Lockers are provided and from the pictures there are many to choose from. A locker will be able to fit at least 2 medium size backpacks. You wil be charge RM5 for usage. The good thing is you can open or close the locker as many times you want.
Changing room is huge, plenty of showers and toilets. As expected, you can smell urine stench if the theme park is overly crowded.
Showers outside of the changing room.

More food stalls.

Surau or prayer room is provided for the Muslim. So tak boleh la bagi alasan tak nak sembahyang yer....

Feeling tired? Get some massage. Get ready some spare change because it is not free.

Just a guideline. The theme park is quite lenient in enforcing the dress code.
Snacks! Get them from a shop opposite the Souvenir shop.
Hi Mr. Turtle. Grab one from the Souvenir shop.
Below are some pictures of the theme park ground. In general, the park is clean and well maintained. Plenty of shades and cabana. Lush foliages as well.

So, there you go. Thank you for stopping by this blog to read about this post. Before I sign off, do you wonder why there were not a lot of people inside the pictures? We were there early. The park opened at 10am and we were there at 9:50am. So, go early and you can have the park to yourself!!

  13. Hi. Are we allowed to bring food and most importantly our water bottles (with water, of course)? Just curious because ESCAPE doesn't allowed us to bring food or water. Empty water bottles are allowed.

    1. Hey, sorry for the late reply.
You cannot bring in your own food. They will check your bags and belongings at the entrance to make sure that no outside foods are brought in. I'm not so sure about water bottles though...

  17. Went to carnival on the 8th June 2015.It's same amount of game as normal weekdays but you got to pay additional RM 12 for adult and RM 8 for kids during school holidays. Time for them to make lots of money without any upgrade over the years. The water bucket not functioning.Few staffs are not friendly and treat you as though you on welfare trip.Overall not worth for money paid but northern region people left without much choice

    1. Hey, thank you for stopping by this blog. Yup, judging from the latest comment, it seems that the place is being neglected. It has been awhile since the last time that I'd been there, so I cannot really say whether it is really that bad or not. But, if you change your mind and still go there, will you share your thoughts here. It will be useful info for anyone planning to go there in the future.....
